Quin Parish – Appointment
Due to the appointment of Fr. Ignatius McCormack, Adm, Quin, as Principal of St. Flannan’s College, Ennis, the following changes are to take place:
Quin, Clooney and Maghera to be covered by Ennis Parish, pro-tem, supported by the Abbey cluster.
Fr. Tom O’Gorman appointed as Adm., continuing to live in the Presbytery, Cloughleigh.
(Effective from the 1st of September)
Many thanks to Fr. Ignatius for the sterling service he has offered over the past number of years while also teaching in St. Flannan’s College.
Pastoral Service
• Weekend Masses in all three Churches to continue as normal for immediate future.
• Chaplaincy of Schools to continue as normal along with Sacramental Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
• First Friday Calls and Pastoral Visits of the Sick, Funerals and Weddings to continue as normal.
• Weekday and First Friday Masses to be arranged in conjunction with the Administrator.
• Baptims continue to be arranged by appointment or on a regular time to be arranged by the Administrator.
Training in relation to pastoral development is being offered by the diocese and this will be available to the parish in due course.
Special thanks to the pastoral councils, finance committees, secretary, sacristans and the many involved in different roles for the great work they continue to do.
Thank you to the pastoral councils of the parish who met with myself and Fr. Ger Nash, Director of Pastoral Development on July 5th to discuss the change and plan ahead.
Thanks also to Fr. Tom O’Gorman, the priests of Ennis parish and Abbey cluster who have agreed to the new arrangement and have generously taken on the extra work.
I acknowledge the challenge, change and sense of loss that it will be not having a resident priest in the parish but the level of basic service and pastoral care should not be diminished in any way with the new system.
Thank you all for your patience, cooperation and understanding in relation to this change.
