Holy Week Ceremonies

Monday 30th March – Reconciliation service for parishes in the Abbey Pastoral Area at 7.30pm – 8.15pm in the Cathedral. ‘Lord, make us instruments of your peace’.  Priests available for individual confession.

Wednesday 1st April – Chrism Mass. All are invited to the Diocesan celebration of the chrism in the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul Ennis at 7.30pm. This annual Diocesan Mass is celebrated by Bishop Fintan and the Priests of the Diocese and our lay Ministers who minister in our Pastoral Area. During Mass, Bishop Fintan will bless the Oils used in the Sacraments throughout the Diocese – The Oil of the Sick, The Oil of  Catechumens used in Baptism and The Oil of Chrism used in Baptism, Confirmation and  Ordination.

Holy Thursday 2nd April – Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7pm in the Church of St. John III Clooney.

Good Friday 3rd April – This is a day of fast and Abstinence. Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3pm in St Mary’s Church Quin. 7pm Stations of the Cross in St Mary’s Church Maghera.

Holy Saturday 4th April – Easter Vigil in St. John XXIII Church at 7pm.

Easter Sunday 5th April – Dawn Mass at the Quay, Clarecastle (time to be confirmed).                               9.30am Mass at St. Stephen’s Church Maghera. 11am Mass St Mary’s Church Quin.
