This Sunday 24th August is designated as a Day of Prayer for Gaza. On this day you are asked to light a candle in your home or Church, attend Mass, spend time before the Blessed Sacrament, pray the Rosary, make some small personal penance or sacrifice and on the day, let the light of Hope radiate out from the Island

The Franciscan Friars have asked that we convey their thanks and gratitude to the many peoples who are helping them clear the debt incurred in repairing the roof the Friary in Ennis. Work is progressing and should be completed in the coming weeks. They assure all of a remembrance each day in prayer when they gather as a community twice

The dreaded three words are here again. Our school’s doors will open once again this week for the start of the new school year. We pray God’s blessing on all involved in education in our parish. Prayer for those who received results: We congratulate all Leaving Cert students who received their results on Friday. As decisions await, be open to the unexpected, it may reveal hidden treasures. Loving God, calm the anxious hearts of those waiting exam results. Grant them peace that as the days approaches for results. Help them to trust that their worth lies

St Monica Wednesday 27th August: St Monica is remembered for her patience and faith in the face of adversity. Monica is responsible for converting her hot tempered, pagan husband, her cantankerous mother-in law and her brilliant but wayward son, Augustine (whose feast we celebrated on Thursday). Monica is the Patron Saint of wives, mothers and abuse victims.

In the name of God we go on this holiday. May God the Father be with us, God the son protect us, and God the Holy Spirit be by our side. Lord, be our guide and our protector on the holiday we are about to take. Watch over us, Protect us from accidents. Keep us free from harm to body
