Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes will take place this Wednesday 11th February and World Day of Prayer for the Sick is celebrated on this day also. This year the theme chosen comes from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah “You are a Blessing to Me” (43: 3-4) The message shifts the focus from illness as a burden to the sick person as a gift. Those with the burden of sickness can teach us all about compassion, patience and the deeper meaning of human existence. The message is also a challenge to all of us, caregivers, family members, healthcare workers and society to see the person behind the illness as a blessing.

Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes continues this week until the feast day on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Cathedral.
