Holy Week Ceremonies

Monday

Penitential Rite with the opportunity for individual confession on this Monday night at 7.30pm in the Cathedral. This Abbey Pastoral Area initiative gives parishioners in all four parishes the opportunity to avail of the sacrament of Reconciliation with 12 priests in attendance.

Spy Wednesday

The Chrism Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral at 7.30pm on Wednesday evening. This annual Diocesan Mass brings the Bishop and his priests together with our Lay Pastoral Ministers and people from every parish in the Diocese. The Holy oils used in the celebration of the Sacraments throughout every parish in the Diocese are blessed and the Bishop and Priests renew their priestly commitment. All are welcome to this very special Diocesan Mass.

Holy Thursday:

Mass of the Lord’s Supper in St John XXIII Church Clooney at 7pm.
Good Friday is day of fast and abstinence. No Mass is celebrated on this day but tradition shows that Christians gather at 3pm on Good Friday and recall the Passion of Jesus. This ceremony will take place in St Mary’s Church, Quin at 3pm.
Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 7pm in St Stephen’s Church Maghera.
Holy Saturday: The Easter vigil will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Church, Clooney at 7pm.
Easter Sunday: The Dawn Mass will be celebrated at 6.30am in the Quay Clarecastle.
Morning Masses at 9.30am in St Stephen’s Church Maghera and at 11am in St Mary’s Church Quin.
